He is a student of Piotr Soyka, who, as the general director of the Gdańsk Ship Repair Yard, hired him in 1995.
A Master of Science in Engineering and a graduate of the Gdańsk University of Technology, his first job after graduation was a production internship as a marine machinery and equipment assembler. In 1998, he became the youngest manager in the shipyard's history, taking over the Pipe Department, and later headed the Marine Power Plant Department.
He was then promoted to head of production and then deputy general director for production. From 2007, he served as deputy general director for logistics and later as director of production.
In 2011, Adam Ruszkowski was appointed to the Management Board of Gdańsk Shiprepair Yard J. Piłsudski SA, where he was responsible for execution, including production management, cooperation, and logistics for all ship repair and conversion projects undertaken at the shipyard. At the same time, he deepened his knowledge of finance and honed his skills in collaborating with financial institutions. He also served as chairman of the supervisory boards of numerous companies within the Remontowa Holding Capital Group.
In 2017, the Supervisory Board of the Gdańsk Shiprepair Yard named after J. Piłsudski SA appointed him president of the shipyard's management board.
In 2018, he became the chairman of the Supervisory Board of Remontowa Shipbuilding SA, and in 2019 – he joined the Supervisory Board of Gdańsk Shiprepair Yard Remontowa im. J. Piłsudski SA. He was one of the closest associates of President Piotr Soyka, also working at Remontowa Holding SA as director of company supervision.
On September 30, 2020, the Supervisory Board of Remontowa Holding SA appointed him as President of the company's Management Board. In December of the same year, Adam Ruszkowski was also elected President of the FORUM OKRĘTOWE Employers' Association.
