The Italian Westinghouse Mangiarotti plant in Monfalcone is to produce key components for Poland's first nuclear power plant, including steam generators and AP1000 reactor pressure vessels. These plants are considered among the most modern in the nuclear industry and are capable of collaborating with Polish suppliers. Westinghouse has signed letters of intent with over thirty Polish companies and plans to place orders in 2024. Construction of the first three-unit AP1000-based power plant is scheduled to begin, with concrete poured for the first unit in 2028, with planned operation from 2036.

In 2024, the Ministry of Infrastructure announced that over PLN 2 billion had been secured for investments in the maritime sector in next year's budget. Among the planned investments for 2025 is the construction of the container port infrastructure in Świnoujście. Minister Marchewka confirmed to Radio Szczecin that "everything is progressing according to schedule." We have a location decision, organized tenders, and signed agreements for seabed surveys at the investment sites. We are working to ensure that the Świnoujście terminal can accommodate the world's largest ships by the turn of 2028/2029," Marchewka added.
The investment, costing several billion zlotys, includes, among other things, the construction of an approach fairway and is to be located east of the LNG terminal breakwater, covering an area of approximately 70 hectares.

Singapore's leading container operator announced its success in handling over 40 million TEU in 2024. This is intended to underscore its growth as a member of an international corporation that owns, among others, the Baltic Hub terminal in Gdańsk. PSA Singapore emphasizes that this new record surpasses the previous one, which reached 38.8 million TEU, set in 2023. As the world's largest transshipment hub, PSA strengthens its position as a significant gateway connecting the Singapore economy with the global market. The company's assets reached almost USD 27.5 billion at the end of 2023. The Baltic Hub transshipment terminal, located at the Port of Gdańsk, in which the company holds a 40% stake, also contributes to PSA's overall operations. Currently, the acquisition is underway
expansion. Thanks to the construction of the T3 terminal, its annual capacity will increase by up to 1.5 million TEU.

In 2024, Finnish authorities conducted nearly 300 inspections of foreign vessels in domestic ports. Previously, media reported that the approximately 20-year-old tanker Eagle S had changed its name several times and was involved in accidents, including a collision with a mobile drilling platform off the coast of Texas in the US and an oil spill off the coast of Chile. The Eagle S, believed to be part of Russia's "shadow fleet," was detained on Christmas Day, hours after a power outage on the EstLink 2 cable. At the time, the vessel was en route from St. Petersburg towards Egypt. The shadow fleet consists of outdated, worn-out vessels used by Russia to circumvent international sanctions on Russian oil exports.

They will improve port efficiency and safety. The Maritime Office in Szczecin has announced two tenders for the supply of specialized vessels: a buoy-laying vessel and a dredger. Their purpose will be to strengthen maritime infrastructure in the region and improve the efficiency of fairway maintenance activities. Both tenders are being conducted as open tenders.

The Baltic Industrial Group, comprising Energomontaż Północ Gdynia and Baltic Operator, is building two offshore transformer stations (OSS) for Baltic Power, Poland's first offshore wind farm. Baltic Operator is manufacturing steel structures for the transformer stations, weighing a total of 2,600 tons, which are prefabricated in Gdańsk and Gdynia. The transformer stations convert energy from wind turbines and then transmit it to land. Assembly and equipping of the stations will take place on land, while offshore installation will be carried out using the Gulliver installation vessel. The farm will be located 23 km offshore near Łeba and Choczewo. Upon completion in 2026, Baltic Power will meet 3% of Poland's energy demand and reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 2.8 million tons annually.

The container ship Amnah listed and subsequently sank in the Turkish port of Ambarli during loading. The 101-meter-long container ship Amnah, sailing under the flag of the Comoros, was being unloaded. Due to uneven weight distribution, the ship initially listed to its port side. Footage shows that 10 crew members had already escaped from the ship. The statement said the remaining five were forced to jump into the water as the ship began to sink. One sailor sustained minor injuries.
